Motril is a port town on the Mediterranean coast in Granada
province (Spain). By population (around 62,000) it is ranked
Granada's 2nd largest (after Granada City). The town is near
Guadalfeo River and approximately 69 km (43 miles) from
Granada City.

It is in the Spanish region of Andalucia on the Costa Tropical.
Nestling at the foothills of the Sierra Lujar mountains, the

town's coastal strip includes two main beaches - the busy Playa
Poniente, and the quieter Playa Granada.

Motril was associated with sugar. Here sugarcane was
transformed into various sugar types and liquors. "The
Sugarcane Museum" is among Motril's best known tourist
attractions. Port Motril is a fishing and commercial / ferry port,
