interest of the region lies in its fifty-odd villages, which were the
last stronghold of Spanish Muslims, or Moors.
The village of Pampaniera, Las Alpuharras, Sierra Nevada, Granada Province, in the
Andulusia autonomous community of Spain. Further up the mountain are the
villages of Bubion and Capilera.
Before arriving at Pampaneira, which lies approximately 1,060
meters (3,480 feet) above sea level, we will make a photo stop at
‘Presa de Rules’ (a huge dam) and pass by the village of Orgiva.
