n keeping with its tradition of celebrating all festivals with fervor and gaiety and for introducing the
children to their rich culture and heritage, the junior, middle and the senior wings of Delhi Public
ISchool Jammu celebrated Baisakhi and Ambedkar Jayanti with great pomp and show. All the three
wings of DPS Jammu buzzed alive with great excitement and cheer seeing active participation of the
children of all age groups in various activities.
The program commenced with the Morning Prayer followed by the melodious singing by the
School Choir and Thought of the Day, which set the ethos of peace and serenity all around.
The highlight of the event was the cultural performances by the children on Baisakhi which
included Punjabi Group Folk songs and dances such as, Gidda, tappas, and Bhangra performed to the
tune of Dhol and other folk instruments. The happy children dressed in vibrant traditional attires were
indeed a treat for the eyes.
The most poignant part was when children summed up their experiences of the lockdown
and online schooling. They thanked the School authorities and teachers for supporting them in the
tough times of the pandemic with their comforting availability and encouragement whenever needed
by children or parents and by providing them with quality education in the online mode. Children
expressed themselves through heart–touching speeches and poems which were greatly applauded.
The students from primary and middle wings threw light on the principles and teachings of Dr.
B.R Ambedkar and inspired everyone to uphold the spirit of Liberty, Justice and Fraternity while the
students from the senior wing highlighted the importance of Baisakhi.
The winners and the achievers excelling in Fencing, Table Tennis, VVM, Science Conference,
Music Competition were felicitated by the Principal and other senior staff with medals and mementoes.
Ridhima Bajpai received great admiration for winning 1st position and cash award of Rs 50,000 in the
recently held music competition- ‘Choona Hai Asmaan Season’ -6 grand finale.
The assembly concluded with loud and proud chorus singing of the National Anthem by all
students and staff members.
