DPS JAMMU STUDENTS GET SELECTED IN ALL
INDIA ASTEROID SEARCH CAMPAIGN 2022

All India Asteroid Search Campaign-2022
organized by SPACE in collaboration
with International Astronomical Search
Collaboration, Hardin-Simmons
University, Texas, USA to be conducted
in two phases from 27 May-20 June & 24
June-18 July, 2022.
SPACE is the nodal agency for
organizing asteroid search campaign in
India and providing training to students and amateurs for asteroid hunting. The program which was
started by SPACE in India in the year 2010-2011 with an aim to increase the love for science, astronomy
and scientific research in Indian students has been very successful in meeting its aim. The project has
provided opportunities to more than 500 students and amateurs in India to discover asteroids and near
Earth objects.
Both the students will get exciting opportunity to work with the professional Astronomers and will
get real Astronomy data in this field. Under this campaign, students will get exclusive access to images
of the sky taken at observatories and analyze the data with specialized software provided during training
to look for Asteroids.
EARTH DAY
very year, Earth Day is celebrated on 22nd of April at
Delhi Public School Jammu to remind the students
Eof their duties towards ‘Mother Earth.’ As a part of
environmental education, and responsibility toward Mother
Earth, DPS Jammu took initiative to engage the whole school
community of students, parents, and teachers in making a
difference. Earth Day was celebrated through educational and
action-oriented activities that were fun.
A special assembly was organized for the students of
the Pre-Primary wing. The children presented Earth Prayer,
Earth Song, and a musical skit on the occasion. They took part
in different activities such as hand-printing activity, coloring
activity, plantation drive with small saplings, and making paper
bags out of newspapers.
A myriad of activities were conducted in all the classes.
Best out of Waste and Colouring activities were conducted for
Pre-primary students. Students of class I made newspaper bags
to emphasize the ban on the plastic concept, while students
and teachers of class II were involved in GO Green activities.
They were involved in a tree plantation drive and also carried
out a green rally around the campus conveying the message of
keeping their surroundings clean & green.
Students of Classes III to V made beautiful posters of
47
