At the origin of our model, a Finnish philosophy of life
The Sisu (pronounced « seessu »), a word that only exists in the Finnish language is a Finnish philosophy of life, a
mindset that involves the notion of interior or interiority.
Since 500 years, the word Sisu has been defining within the Finnish people their interior strength, determination,
and resilience, as well as their bravery to keep moving ahead against adversity, whilst adapting to changes.
The Sisu way of life implies that one should harvest honesty and integrity in their relationships : going to the
point and telling what’s on one’s mind, whilst showing respect, courtesy and a strong listening capacity. Having
the Sisu also means having self-respect.
In the Finnish culture, the Sisu or interior strength is at the heart of the educational system, of interpersonal
relationships, of work ethics, as well as of the relation to nature.
