Brief Description of Material
You've certainly read a text that contains an author's opinion, right?
Well, this type of text is called Argumentative Text. Argumentative Text is
a type of text that is often found in everyday reading, although not everyone
knows that what they are reading is actually this type of text. Argumentative
text is a type of text that contains opinions about something, be it an object,
place or event. In this module you will be invited to practice being able to
differentiate the social function, text structure, and linguistic elements of
argumentative texts and grasp the contextual meaning of argumentative texts.
Once both have been mastered, you will practice composing argumentative
texts by paying attention to the social function, structure and linguistic
elements of argumentative texts, related to actual issues. To achieve Basic
Competency, you need to read many models of argumentative texts and
answer questions in the form of structured exercises, and then get used to
reading and compiling argumentative texts that contain opinions about things
around you. To find out your learning progress, Authentic assessments need
to be carried out, including performance in the form of essays which are then
collected in each portfolio.
