 but rather one of my biggest strengths. I could not be more grateful because encountering many different leadership styles throughout my career taught me lessons and shaped who I am as a leader.
The point is, people are different, and being different is a good thing. I do not want to be equal. I want my unique abilities to create the opportunities that I earn just like my male counterparts. I’ve had many mentors in my career who have made both a positive and negative impact and shaped who I choose to be as a leader. I did not need to have females in the CEO role in order to see myself there, but I do want to know that the option exists. I know that by what I choose to do. I do not want to be chosen as a speaker, leader, writer, or any other role just to check the female or diversity box; I want to be chosen because I bring value, connect with the audience, challenge others to think differently, and am able to make an impact. In our quest for equality, we need to all
be careful that we are not creating a different and equally disturbing problem in our society.
