Among questions raised by Group Members:
1. Can you use a Stealth Belt with a 2-piece appliance with disposable bags?
a. It really depends on you. You might have to take the belt off.
2. When you wear your bag horizontally, does it backup output onto your stoma?
a. As a rule, I try to empty my bag at 1/3 full, so the way the bag is shaped when lying sideways, output fills along the bottom edge of the bag. There’s no problem with pressure on the stoma.
b. For urostomies, the output is all liquid so you’ll prefer the vertical format.
3. Do these work for close encounters?
a. Yes. They’re very good. With the Stealth Belt, nothing’s hanging off you, especially with the
horizontal format — it’s more out of the way. We also make Stealth Belts in lace versions.
4. Can you wear it for sleeping at night?
a. Yes. You can wear it around the clock. I’ve found it provides damage control. Typically, I only
have a leak every few months, and always at night. Having the bag in the belt really saves a lot of work.
5. What is the cost in US$?
a. There are many options, but a standard belt generally costs about US$99 and you can usually
get a year’s use with one.
b. We’ve found some insurers in Canada will cover that cost but you have to check with
your own provider.
