Founder and Owner of Hernia Helper
Brantford ostomate Gordon Douglas designed the Hernia Helper support belt to help people with abdominal hernias, particularly parastomal hernias. An active member of the Hamilton
Ostomy Association, he was diagnosed in 2010 with colorectal cancer and had an ileostomy. When it was reversed a year later, he developed a hernia. Rather than have more surgery, Gordon tried to find a belt to support him comfortably, but couldn’t. So he made his own, and continued to refine it. When others began asking for it, he established his company AM Ostomy Supply in 2013 to share his Hernia Helper, a comfortable support belt customized to each ostomate’s unique shape.
