Tom was steering well, even with a bucket in his lap.
They stopped at the first bus-stop. Tom shone the headlight on to a wall full of posters and handed the gluey brush to her. She was neatly painting the back of the poster and trying not to cover any other posters when her father came and gently
removed the brush from her hand.
He slapped glue right across the middle of the wall, put up
three dry posters in a row, then painted over the top as well - so they were all stuck down, flat and neat. ‘Trust me, I’m a pro!’ he yelled over the noise of the bike. ‘We haven’t got time to be artistic!’
As they roared around town in the dark, stopping at all the places where people put up posters for bands and dances, Saffron became really efficient at glueing.
