Oliver Schories – Molero [8bit records]
Following on from his 8bit records debut “Maia”, which scored a top 5 placing when it was released back in early summer 2018, he brings us 2 fantastic pieces of deep house. First up “Molero” begins with a classic deep house combo of deep bass and chord stabs, combined with some synths twinkling above them in the mix. However half way through were are thrown a curve ball with the introduction of the vocal, which takes the track in an early chicago house direction. On the flip “Piu” is a more deep tech number, with a metalic sounding lead riff, with a rolling bassline and drums that kick along nicely. The 2 tracks are stark contrasts to each other, but fit perfectly together as a whole package. Grab a copy now.

TOP TUNE //
Ken Ishii – Landslide [Ribbon Recordings]
Italian label Ribbon Recordings are back, with a pounding original track and a slew of remixes. Ken Ishii's “Landslide” is a powerhouse techno offering, with a pounding kick and techy synths. Adiel brings his own brand of techno to hs remix, with a quirky rolling bassline and swathes of reverb. Mnuel Di Martino takes us on a journey into the frantic backwaters of techno, with his modulating lead having its filters opened p and closed to create tension. Mute8 raise the energy levels, with rolling hats and a kick drum that provides the punch needed for the dancefloor, whilst finally Mattia Trani closes things off with a remix that strips things back and takes a more minimalist approach. A great selection of variations, and something for any techno head. https://www.deejay.de/Ken_Ishii_Landslide_RIBBONLTD001_Vinyl__944731
HDSN – Whiplash [NBAST]
The influences of Paul Johnson and Armand van Helden are plain to hear, as HDSN gives us a masterclass in understated disco house. “Whiplash” is all about the sultry sax breakdown and the dancefloor strings. “No tears no fears” ups the energy levels, with a rolling bassline and repeated samples that create the groove and feel of the track. “Light my fire” is a more classic disco house track, with strings and vocals sitting nicely with the live sounding bassline. Finally “Undress my soul” has a great guitar lick and, once again, the strings take centre stage. The dancefloor will appreciate this one!

Various Artists – V-ICR#002 [Insane code recordings]
Insane code recordings unleash their second vinyl release with a great compilation. Opening with “Emisphera” by Gianluca Corsi, its sets the tone, full of reverb and tension, but with a sense of hope. Max Sensation is up next with “Hypnotic Suggestions” , and its a great title, as the track truly does hypnotise, with rising arpeggios and a growling bassline. Next Suave brings us “The Test” a droning techno number, with a punk feel to it. The monotone vocal combined with off kilter sounds gives it a unique ambiance. Finally Federico Guglielmi is on remix duties for “The Test” and goes into bouncy techno territory, with a rounded bassline and punchy snappy drums. Good stuff all round. https://www.deejay.de/Various_V-ICR%23002_V-ICR002_Vinyl__944830
Paul Walter – No Boundaries EP [Malonian]
Vienna based musician Paul Walter is on hand for Malonian's 8th release. “No Boundaries” is a quirky house track, with a bassline that bounces along and has an obscure vocal that I'm pretty sure samples the late Stephen Hawking. Next “unter” takes things in a minimal direction, with scatty percussion and drums, and a jarring bassline. “Planet Illum” keep with the minimalist theme, with another analogue bassline that takes you to places you didn't know you wanted to, whilst the EP finishes with “Planet Earth” which is the most mainstream of all the tracks, a straight up deep house number . https://www.deejay.de/Paul_Walter_No_Boundaries_EP_MALONIAN008_Vinyl__943371
