feature interview
All hail Queen Lisa! She's conquered all corners of the dance music world, and entirely deserving of her crown, and legendary status. 2016 will be a phenomenal milestone for her as she celebrates her 18th year in the scene as an established female artist. With a voluptuous discography of releases, collaborations, remixes, albums, podcasts and a record label to show for herself, and still growing, it's no wonder she is one of the world's leading females. Her infamous qualities as a DJ / producer and the adoration of her avid fans, has steered Lisa through the changes in her style, as she made the transition from the harder styles to techno, and quite contentedly doing so, making the adjustment look almost effortless, but that's Lisa all over. Her dedication and passion for music always shines through, regardless of what style she plays.
Earlier this year she released a statement announcing that she would be hanging up her Hard House boots for the foreseeable future, much to the disappointment of many fans, although they were in for one final treat. As part of the 15 years of Goodgreef's celebrations taking place in Victoria Warehouse Manchester on the 10th October, Lisa would play her last ever Hard House set.
The hype was gargantuan. I say with great pride that I was lucky enough to witness this set, right up the front! She looked truly happy. I had tears in my eyes as she absolutely rocked the arena, hundreds of clubbers bowing to her, praising her absolute awesomeness. Her stage presence and interaction with fans will always prevail, it's just mesmerizing to watch. There's no doubt amongst fellow music contributors that Lisa will prove more than ever that she can succeed with techno, just as she did with the harder genres.
I mean she is topping charts across the board, with support from legends like Carl Cox and Phutek. She launched her brand new house and techno label 'Basement Boutique' this year also, which is snowballing fans across the globe, all happening in her intimate studio in the basement of her home – amazing!
Her schedules are relentless, so it was totally wicked when Emma Dilemma and myself Mike Moggi Mannix caught up with her to chew the phat on her illustrious career ... boooooom ..here it is!!
