Louk & Dante [UK] - Hard Techno & Trance
Möd3rn - 10/15 EP [Möd3rn] (Louk) - Zone Top Tune - 10/10
Those lovable French crew at Möd3rn, who wish to remain anonymous, though it's obvious who they are, deliver yet another wicked three tracker. Continuing the trend of naming each track in succession, '10/15', treats us to the cuts 'Mo 16, 17 and 18'.
'16' starts off quite driving and minimal before launching into some choir pads that work well if you are a very moody person. We're not however but am sure this will get cained. '17' keeps the funky vibe with a repeated synth stab and meticulous groove that really gets us going, and '18' is like a mixture of the two and has one of those grooves that gets you on the dancefloor immediately! Expect heavy caining from us! Essential.

Frankyeffe - Trenta [Riot] (Louk) - Zone Recomended Tune - 9/10
I don't think 125 words is enough to sum up such an album, but Italy's Frankyeffe has delivered one serious rocker here for the ever wicked Riot Recordings (also based in his homeland). Boasting a mammoth sixteen tracks, his funky yet pounding style of techno has certainly won favour here with no less than two tracks appearing on the recent edition of my Sonic Sessions radio show. Cuts of choice here have to be 'My Beat' and 'Come On', which both feature looped vocals, rolling percussion and catchy synth stabs that give them a slightly oldskool sound. I'm sure this one is out by the time the this issue of Zone touches the streets so check it out!

Scot Project - Deeper Underground [White] (Dantes) - Zone Rating -7/10
Germany's Scot Project has been the mainstay of our sets for years, and not a week goes by where we aren't reaching for an older track or remix of his that really sets him apart from all the others as to why he is one of the biggest innovators in the world. Here he tries his hand at a mash up that samples, a very well known UK chart song and a very well known piano house anthem, but twists them up into quite an aggressive tech laden trance number that oozes quality and has been played by many of our counterparts already. Piano stabs and distorted basslines amidst a fierce kick make this one somewhat special indeed.

Xavi BCN + DJ Meke - Resurrection [BCN Spain] (Louk) - Zone Rating - 7/10
Good, modern hard trance is really hard to find of late, and we love it when there is something that comes out of nowhere that surprises us. There only seems to be labels like Hyper Reality and Atmosphere Recordings UK that are really impressing us in that regard over the past few years. That's why the new collaboration from Spain's Hard Trance hero Xavi BCN and Finland's Meke really impressed us. 'Resurrection' keeps the vibe of older hard trance material from the early 2000s and features a rip roaring melody and one heck of a fierce kick and bassline. Add to that a gorgeous breakdown, and kicking back in with loads of energy made this one go straight into our record boxes.

Spectrum - Evolve [Techno Legends] (Dantes) - Zone Rating - 8/10
You would think calling a label 'Techno Legends' might err on the side of being rather arrogant, or somewhat boastful, yet given how much of a legend Spectrum is, Hungary's Techno Legends is indeed a worthy label for him to be on. A man works around the clock pushing techno in his home country of Holland with the wicked Connected imprint, as well as releasing on Naked Lunch and other prestigious imprints, here on 'Evolve', he treats us to two rocking grooves that are aimed purely at the larger festivals and dancefloors. 'Evolve' does exactly that, builds end evolves with a monstrous kick from the offset, but it is the slightly darker 'Pixa' that does it for us. Nice one, this comes recommended!
