never looked back. My first job was in an estate agent working my way up to assistant manager. One day a tall handsome stranger came in looking to purchase a penthouse. A cash buyer, this was a job for the assistant manager I thought, so, I took him in hand. It was love at first sight for me, he fancied me too I later discovered.
That is how Tony O’ Keefe came into my life. Sherry was our in-house solicitor. She looked after all the documents regarding our client’s purchases and indeed Tony’s penthouse. He set out to woo me, bringing me roses every day and presents from around the globe. Sometimes even bringing Sherry a little gift also. This treatment will only last until everything is signed and sealed I would think.
The day he got the keys I panicked, thinking I would never see him again. We’d miss his charms and the odd bottle of perfume, silk scarves, handmade chocolates, we concluded. But he continued to call in and take both of us out for evenings to posh clubs and slap up meals. I was beginning to think he liked having two girls on his arm until Sherry done a very selfless thing and cancelled one evening. That was when Tony told me how much he really liked me.
It only took six months for us to properly get together. I moved in to my dream apartment on my 20th birthday. I couldn’t believe how lucky I was, meeting Tony, moving in with him, having a job I love and still being so young! Although it was a big responsibility being assistant manager I excelled at it. I had a great job and someone to love me for the rest of my life I was ecstatic.
When I think about it now I knew very little about him. I knew his parents died in a car crash and left him and his 20-year-old sister behind, she was three years older than Tony. He went to live with his Grandparents somewhere in England but after a year they had a huge row and Tony left to study in London. His sister, he said, went to live abroad but he didn’t know where she had gone, they had lost touch a long time ago.
