As demonstrated in the findings indicated in Table 4, the most prominent allegations investigated by children’s services include physical abuse, neglect, or a combination of both - accounting for of all investigations. Referrals for service comprise 17% of cases, meanwhile suspicions of sexual abuse only account for 9% of all cases referred for screening. Table 6 is included to provide comparison between indicated referral and incidents wherein youth are removed from home. Notable from this data is the disparity between sexual abuse cases referred and the cases that lead to removal of the child from the home. This is where CACs may be able to provide additional care with our children’s services partners on our MDTs and through forensic interview provide an opportunity to identify incidents of sexual abuse that may otherwise be missed.
