 CAC RESPONSE TO MALTREATMENT
CACs in Ohio frequently (though not exclusively) provide services to those children whose reports have been screened in and completed, then assigned to family investigation track. CACs provide services to children and families throughout the state.
In 2018, Ohio CACs provided services to at least 9,006 children.3 This number accounts for approximately 91 percent of children in need of services*.
Nationally, the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) model employed by CACs is considered best practice in providing services to children and families regarding abuse and maltreatment. In Ohio, there are important opportunities for growth of this model to serve a larger proportion of those in need of services.
Additional findings of interest include potential expansion of services to LEP and linguistically isolated households, increasing access for those with disabilities, and numerous populations in resource-poor areas of the state.
