Attorneys in our Fashion Apparel and Beauty (FAB) Group provide
legal services to many famous brands, including Chanel, Donna Karan,
Gucci Group, Louis Vuitton, Shiseido, Marc Jacobs, Levi’s, Gymboree,
Kate Spade, H&M, BCBG Max Azria, and Givenchy, to name a few. Our work includes intellectual property, licensing, and transactional counsel on a variety of projects as well as drafting of privacy policies, licensing documents, terms and conditions, commercial co-venture agreements, sweepstakes and game rules, commercial terms, and software and technology agreements.
We also work with talent for fashion, including Heidi Klum, Nicola Formichetti, Dov Charney, Bethenny Frankel, Julie Henderson, and many other celebrities, including some deceased such as Amelia Earhart, Bettie Page, Greta Garbo, and Peter Beard for LVMH Group Entites.
Some recent matters include:
• Represented H&M in relation to its 2015 Spring H&M Conscious Collection Campaign, promoting its eco-friendly fashion line using organic and recycled materials, including negotiating and drafting service agreements and related documents.
• Represented H&M in relation to its 2015 Summer H&M Campaign featuring supermodels Joan Smalls, Natasha Poly, Doutzen Kroes, and Adriana Lima and the new musical composition “Sun Is Shining” by Swedish electronic DJs musicians Axwell Ingrosso, including negotiating and drafting service agreements and for the musical composition and synchronization rights for “Sun Is Shining”.
• Represented Sundial Brands LLC in an acquisition by Baine Capital Private Equity to acquire a minority stake in Sundial, a beauty and personal care products manufacturer and maker of the SheaMoisture and Nubian Heritage brands.
• Represented actress Shay Mitchell and Vita D’Amore, Inc. in relation to the negotiation of a fashion apparel license with RDG Global for Kohl’s including the trademark and brand “Fit to Wander” and Ms. Mitchell’s personal services.
• Represented Chanel in connection with its acclaimed new global advertising campaign for Chanel No. 5. Handled production, marketing, and music matters relating to the Baz Luhrmann directed spot starring Brazilian superstar Gisele and the music of recording artist Lo Fang.
• Represented The Donna Karan Company in numerous agreements related to the relaunch of dkny.com and donnakaran.com ecommerce sites.
Our FAB Team again presented seminars to industry insiders in connection with Fashion Week. We covered topics such as competition and cartel laws, confidentiality and E-Discovery in cross-border matters, and we also provided behind-the-scenes perspective from some industry insiders.
