Mid UK Recycling Driver Risk Assessment (Mountain Transport)
Method Statement
Drivers are to know that under all circumstances there is no expectation for them to answer a call from the transport office.
Office Staff. Office staff. When making calls to drivers. If office staff need to call a driver, they must first look the driver up on the vehicle tracking
system and identify if the vehicle is in motion. If the vehicle is in motion, then a call must NOT be made. If it’s identified that the driver has
stopped, and the engine is turned off then a call to the driver may be made. Please remember that the safety of the driver and the vehicle
will be the responsibility of the caller after looking at the tracking system.
Navigation Devices. Under NO circumstances (…and in addition) are any drivers to use any of the listed devices below whilst the vehicle in
in motion:
Devices. Navigation devices.
Camera monitoring devices.
Tablets.
Laptops.
e-readers.
PDA.
Two-way radios (including CB radios)
HUD Heads up display. (If fitted)
Safe stowage of the above items must also be placed in an area out of view so as not to cause any distraction. The responsibility to remain
in full control of the vehicle and awareness to the road conditions is imperative.
Personal Calls. Personal Calls. Whilst at work and having the vehicle engine running all drivers of HGV and company vehicles are reminded that they are
not to take personal calls on their devices. Instead, please leave the phone alone and return the call when you have stopped or parked up.
