Mid UK Recycling Driver Risk Assessment & Safe System of Work

Collection of a Skip:

On arrival the driver should complete the “Driver Risk Assessment” to identify if it's safe to

collect or deliver the skip. See the Driver Risk Assessment above.

Identify the contents of the skip (during a collection) are safe and within the parameter walls of

the skip. (See overloaded skips). Remember Skips need to be netted at ground level and before

you take them onto the road.

 Establish communication with the customer, if possible.

 Identify the location for the skip is to be collected.

 Reverse into position and prepare the skip for collection.

 The driver is to remain vigilant throughout the operation and if any person or animal comes

into the driver's working area. Then work must stop until it's all clear.
