For most of my life, I have been a runaway. Was I running from what and running to what? Always in question
but facing problems and taking responsibility for my actions were not any of my concerns. Just get away, and

                                                that I did.

One day hitchhiking, a gentleman picked me up and said he was going to have lunch; he asked if I was hungry
and cared to join him. We stopped at a dinner and had some deep conversations about life and taking on
responsibilities. He knew who I was and asked if I was ready for him to return me home. I declined his offer. He
asked if I had any money, and of course, I didn’t, so he offered me a job for the day cleaning houses he had built.

The gentlemen’s name was John Haines. The building contractor was known for his construction of million-
dollar homes. I took him up on his offer, and we both delivered. He asked if I would like to continue working for
him, cleaning up after painters. I took him up on his offer, and all my work was finished the following week.
