Other Critical Considerations
● There has been little to no evidence of spread in schools or sports throughout Allegheny County.
● Schools that have been back five days a week from the beginning of the year have been just as
successful as those that have been in the hybrid model at mitigating COVID-19.
● Most of the current spread in the county is attributed to outbreaks in multi-generational family living
arrangements and Pittsburgh’s homeless population.
● Hospitalizations and death rates have remained very consistent since March for each age
demographic. There still have not been any deaths in PA under 20 and only 18 total hospitalizations
for children under 20 in Allegheny County Since March.
● As a district we’ve had 7 student cases, but of those, 5 were from two families. In every case, the
student contracted the virus outside of the school and in most cases contracted it from a family
member.
● In a meeting with the Health Department it was determined that there is very little risk in bringing
elementary aged-children back five days a week.
