P. 75
The 80/20 Rule says (among other things) that 80% of sales come from 20% of customers, or that
80% of your results come from 20% of your effort.
It's about productivity and identifying the significant tasks/actions that contribute most to it.
Prioritize the most important tasks, and you become super-efficient and effective. You will spend
time on the things that matter.
(2) This is a good time to talk about the 80/20 Rule, and how you use it to determine
where you’re going to get the most impact from your actions. This is a very important
guiding principle that applies to productivity in every area of your life. It is a data-
based decision-making process.
(3) This is an ideal time to introduce your 30-60-90-Day Plan: “I’m so glad you asked
that, Mr. Manager. I’ve worked up an outline of how I would approach the job in the
first 90 days, and it includes how I intend to go about identifying areas where I can
make the most impact in terms of solving your problems and implementing actions to
help us grow.” And then get out your plan and start going over it with the hiring
manager.
Key to a Great Interview!
Introducing your 30-60-90-day plan is an excellent answer to a forward-thinking question like this
one. They want to know what life is going to look like with you on the job and how they can expect
you to tackle problems, identify opportunities, and contribute to the growth of the company. The
90-day plan demonstrates how you’ll hit the ground running to do just that.
