Lamtoro and Intaran trees, which grew quickly and their
fast-growing green leaves fanned to shade the barren
paths. Juwet and Bekul plants thrived as well. We started to
experiment with mangrove varieties that would grow in the
brackish water; Asam Keranji was very popular.
