Gandhi had discovered a new weapon. He had demonstrated the power of the
weapon — a weapon or power that every human being had within himself. He
had shown the power of love and suffering. He had taken his people from the
depths of helplessness to the peaks of victory: from contempt and ridicule to
respect; from fear to fearlessness and bravery.
He felt he had completed his work in South Africa. He decided to return to the
wider theatre of the motherland to serve his people and to further demonstrate
the power of Satyagraha.
