New and enhanced
benefits for Group
Insurance Scheme
ith effect from 1 April 2018, the West Midlands Police l Court award compensation increased from £500 to £1,000
Federation Group Insurance Scheme features some new l Firearm assault benefit increased from £1,500 to £2,500

This follows a complete scheme review by the Federation to l Travel insurance:

We have ensured that the scheme continues to provide not only – insurers will pay up to £1,000 per claim
financial support for members and quality services but also gives for any monetary excess in respect of
access to practical help and advice from a range of specialist loss or damage to a rental vehicle while

The key enhancements are as follows: l Travel cover extended to include
subscribing members residing in the EU.
Serving officers:
l Life assurance increased from £115,000 to £130,000 Partners:
l Critical illness cover increased from £10,000 to £15,000 l Life assurance increased from £57,500 to £65,000
l Three new illnesses added to the list of insured critical illnesses l New child death grant included at £3,000
under the scheme, bringing the total to 41: l Critical illness cover increased from £5,000 to £7,500
l Cardiac arrest l New critical illnesses included:
l Benign spinal cord tumours l Cardiac arrest
l Systemic Lupus Erythematous l Benign spinal cord tumours
l New personal accident lump sum benefit: l Lupus Erythematou
l Scarring/disfigurement from burns, up to £5,000 l New child critical illness benefit added at £3,000
l Permanent total disablement benefit increased from £115,000 to l Permanent total disablement benefit increased from £57,500 to
£130,000 £65,000.
In addition, and in acknowledgment of the recent changes to
the state pension age, the upper age limit for serving members has
been extended from 65 to 70 years.
