                   PRESENT PERFECT
We use the Present perfect to talk about an experience at any

time in the past. The exact time of the experience isn’t
                   important.
I have met him at the airport.

                   Have you finished the homework?
                   PAST SIMPLE

We use the Past simple to talk about a specific occasion in the
                   past.
I met him at the airport 2 days ago.

Did you finish the homework yesterday?
