PRESENT PERFECT
We use the Present perfect to talk about an experience at any
time in the past. The exact time of the experience isn’t
important.
I have met him at the airport.
Have you finished the homework?
PAST SIMPLE
We use the Past simple to talk about a specific occasion in the
past.
I met him at the airport 2 days ago.
Did you finish the homework yesterday?

PRESENT PERFECT AND PAST SIMPLE
We often use the Present perfect to ask and answer questions
about experience, and then the Past simple to give more
information about a specific occasion.
‘Have you finished the homework?’
‘Yes, I have. I finished it last night.’
