Instructions:
1. Start by Cutting our Fabric to 11x11”. You need 2 pieces of fabric in this size. You can choose the
same fabric for each side, or if you want a reversible pillow, choose 2 coordinating colors.
2. Iron your 2 11” pieces of fabric, and then iron down a ¼” hem on all 4 sides( of both pieces). If you
have chosen a woven fabric or one that frays easily, you may want to go ahead and run a straight
stitch down each of these hems, just to prevent fraying later on.
3. Lay one Fabric Square down, Yucky side DOWN.You should be looking at what will ultimately be
the Outside of one side of your pillow.
4. Take your second fabric square, and laying it Pretty Side to Pretty side, Pin your 2 squares
together. You will also want to leave a 3” space, in the CENTER of one side, this will be where you
turn your pillow right side out.
5. Now, using a straight stitch, START ON one SIDE of your 3” opening, sew your 2 squares together.
Be sure to stop at the other side of your 3” opening.
6. TIP: Do not start on a corner, it is harder to close your pillow with a clean edge if you start at the
corner!
7. Once you have sewn all 4 sides except the 3” opening, then remove all pins, snip your corners at
an angle( this helps when turning right side out, but be sure not to cut your stitches)- and turn
your pillow right side out.
8. Fill to your firmness preference. Pin your 3”opening,and and hand sew with a basting or straight
stitch. Be sure to double stitch if desired.
9. OPTIONAL: Depending on your taste and sewing skills, you might want to go around all 4 sides
with a zig zag top stitch.
10. Fluff your pillow.
11. Every sewer needs a good reliable sewing machine. Using one on this craft project is a necessity
for creating a quality look.
