Encouraging Words

Hello Parker Co. 4-H,

My name is Emily Meals, and I am currently serving as one of your Parker County 4-H
ambassadors. I have a few things already planned for this upcoming year, but I want to do
something special. Each month I am planning on completing a series, “Encouraging Words.”
Being a senior in high school, just like many of you, I am reaching the step into the “real
world.” So take my words of advice with you through life, and let's make this world a better
place.

This time of year is a time to celebrate! Celebrate the joy of the holiday season! Choosing joy
is a gift that we can give ourselves, our friends, and our family this holiday season. The
holidays are always crazy, and sometimes seem a bit stressful so it may seem hard to find the
joy at times. For instance it’s easy to worry about gifting the perfect gift, when in all actuality
the perfect gift you can give anyone is joy! To me, this season is not about the gifts I give
others, rather the memories I will make with my loved ones that will last forever. So this
holiday season I challenge you to put the materialistic things away, be present in the
movement, and bring joy to your loved ones.
