Welcome to an afternoon of Cartoon Classics! I have a couple
of important announcements to make before today’s concert.
Kim Corben, Executive Director of the Phil for more than
10 years is moving on to a new challenge at the Plymouth
Center for the Arts as their first Executive Director. Kim made
a terrific impact on the Phil during her tenure. She more
than doubled the number of annual concerts, increased
ticket subscriptions by 138% and individual tickets by 63%,
grew the budget by 131%, created the Composer Society to
recognize our major donors which now represent 65% of all
donations by individuals and successfully led the organization
through the pandemic while not laying off staff or tapping
into our financial reserves. We wish Kim the best in her new
endeavors.
Kara McEachern, formerly the Phil’s Director of Operations,
has worked hand-in-hand with Kim in all respects. Kara, who
holds a degree in Arts Administration, has assumed greater
responsibilities each year and was the obvious choice to take
the leadership baton. To this end, the Phil’s Board of Directors
voted unanimously to name Kara as the Phil’s new Executive
Director. Please join me in welcoming Kara to her new role.
