Spotlight on

Plymouth Area Coalition for the Homeless

For more than four decades, the Plymouth Area Coalition for the Homeless has
been a beacon of hope for homeless families and individuals in crisis. Under the
leadership of Chief Executive Officer Sue Giovanetti, the organization provides
essential services to help neighbors find stability, self-sufficiency, and renewed
        purpose.
The Coalition operates a family homeless shelter in Kingston and will soon open
a second family shelter in Plymouth, expanding their reach at a time when need
is at an all-time high. Many people don’t realize that family homelessness is a
growing crisis—but at the Coalition, parents and children make up a significant
part of the population they serve. Each family and individual who comes
through their doors works closely with rehousing specialists who assist with
job placement, education, language learning, and access to donated essentials
through the F.A.I.R. Program—which collects clothing and household items for
        families starting over.
The Food Pantry remains a cornerstone of the Coalition’s mission. In a typical
week, it serves about 100 families—but just last week, demand doubled, and
more than 1,000 people were served in 10 hours. With the cost of living and
food prices continuing to rise, community support is more vital than ever.
The Coalition also oversees the Children’s Holiday Fund, ensuring that every
child experiences the magic of the season. The Phil proudly supports this effort
through our March of Toys at all four Hometown Holiday concerts.
Sue shares that Plymouth is “an amazing and responsive community—people
always step up when there’s a need.” She believes the organization’s work is
ultimately about providing hope—hope for education, for families, and for a
        brighter future.
Through partnerships, donations, and the generosity of our community, the
Plymouth Area Coalition continues its mission: to provide help for today, and
        hope for tomorrow.
