New Sick solid-state safety scanner boosts

        productivity for small autonomous vehicles
Sick has launched the first multibeam safety
scanner in the world to use safe, solid-state
LiDAR technology to enable small autonomous
vehicles and line-guided shuttle systems to
operate more quickly and productively. With TECHNOLOGY UPDATE
the Sick scanGrid2, small transport vehicles
like Automated Mobile Robots (AMRs) can
operate safely at higher speeds and with
higher payloads for a much lower cost-of
ownership than has been previously possible.
The Sick scanGrid2 is a Type 2 device (BS EN 61496-3) and can be used in safety
functions up to SIL2 / PLd (BS EN ISO 13849), as well as for collision avoidance duties.
Thanks to the safe, solid-state LiDAR technology of scanGrid2, switching to a safety sensor
now offers a rapid return on investment for these smaller vehicles, with the first pilot
installations showing productivity increases between 50 and 70%.

        Faulhaber motion controllers from EMS
combine miniature size with mighty control

Sole UK supplier of Faulhaber motors, EMS is
supplying the new Faulhaber MC3001 motion
        controllers – MC3001B and MC3001P. Designed
for control and positioning tasks, the controllers
exhibit a miniaturised size and high power. The
new additions complete Faulhaber’s MC V3.0
generation of controllers for smaller drives.
Measuring just 2.6 millimetres (mm) in height
with a format from 16 by 27 mm, the new
unhoused motion controllers are extremely WHAT’S NEW...
miniaturised. But their small size does not compromise performance, as they can be operated
with 1.4 amperes (A) in continuous operation and up to five A peak current. Along with
these beneficial attributes, the new motion controllers also feature very high control
dynamics. They can control DC micromotors, linear DC servomotors and brushless DC motors
ranging from six to 30 mm diameter from the Faulhaber product line.
