Eltham Palace in Greenwich has seen the number of moths triple in just 12 months
furnishings at risk. Unfortunately, things have taken a turn for the worse and more homes and historic buildings across the UK and Europe have fallen prey to moths.
They are the worst kind of vandals, leaving everything they touch in tatters. Unlike most vandals, however, these creatures are quiet so that you’ll never hear the damage that they’re causing to the things you and your family hold most dear.
While you go about your normal activities, moth larvae (silvery thread-like moth offspring) will be silently and relentlessly destroying everything that you value. Daytime, night-time, whether you’re out with friends or sitting on the couch enjoying your favourite TV programme, they will be hard at work devouring your things. They are capable of causing as much or even more damage than burglars inside your home. It’s been estimated they are responsible for more than £1 billion worth of damage to clothing and carpets every year in the UK.
