This is really very difficult. We crave breads, pasta, cookies, pizza and
most starchy carbohydrates. When you are 17, you can eat these
things and seem to get away with it. However, when you are 40 and
older, it does catch up to you and your body cannot process these
foods any longer. Most chronic illness is a direct result of eating these
very foods, illnesses such as Fibromyalgia, CFS, Leaky Gut, IBS, Arthritis,
Alzheimer’s, Diabetes, Crones, Eczema, and Psoriasis, just to name a
few. Even if you don’t have cancer, these foods will make you sick the
older you get.
The Glycemic Index (GI) is a ranking of carbohydrate in foods according
to how they affect blood glucose levels. Table sugar has a (GI) of 60
and, as
mentioned, is
fertilizer for
cancer. One
slice of whole
wheat bread is
71, a bagel is
103, popcorn is
55, etc. If you
are healthy and
want to maintain
your health, eat
low (GI) foods to prevent heart disease, diabetes, and cancer.
However, if you already have diabetes or cancer, you MUST keep ALL
GI foods very low (meaning under <55). Keep in mind, the fiber in
foods will act as a buffer to some degree and spread out the spike in
blood sugar instead of an immediate response. This is why the
