P. 21

Wanderers 5th goal duly arrived in the 72nd minute when Conor Meade weaved his way
through midfield to release O’Donovan in the right and he struck a great shot into the far
corner to score his first goal for Wanderers. Youghal to their credit continued to make a game
of it to the end but Wanderers had now settled down and kept possession for the remainder
of the game, one final highlight with man of the match with Dubs picking up a loose clearance
on halfway and audaciously chipped the keeper only for him to make an excellent save. Keith
O’Flynn replaced Chubbs in the 80th minute. We would like to compliment Youghal United on
the magnificent condition of their facilities last Saturday, the pitch which was in pristine condi-
tion and was more like a pitch ready for the start and not the end of the season which gives
food for thought for all MSL clubs and something we should be aiming towards at our own
     grounds.

Many congrats to Eric, Darragh and the squad of players on winning the league title we were
always favourites and were expected to win this league hands down with the squad of play-
ers assembled by the management team, some say it is easier said than done, but all the
hard work put in by all concerned came to fruition on Saturday, there can be no argument
that the squad was by far the strongest in the league, you have to take your hat off to the
management team who kept all of the players “ happy “ most of the time and that is the se-
cret to success when the title was clinched on Saturday, we now look forward to cup success
in upcoming cup matches starting with Bandon in the Quarter Final of the Pop Keller cup a
trophy which has very close ties with Cobh, where Cobh Ramblers had many successes in this
competition in the past this Weds night at Oldchurch Park at 6.30 pm, this will be followed
by a FAI Cup 1st Round game next Sat at 2.30 pm at home against Clonmel Celtic who were
only narrowly beaten at the weekend by Sheriff YC in the Semi-Final of the FAI Junior Cup in
     Dublin.
