Cobh Tidy Towns Pride in Community and 2019 Calendar Launch
On Wednesday evening Cobh Tidy Towns representatives attended the Muintir na Tire Pride in
our Community Awards. We were delighted to win 2nd Place in Best Project Large Town South
Cork for the retrofit of the benches with recycled plastic planks on the Watersedge & Black
Railings as well as litter awareness signs at Lissanisky. We were thrilled with Cobh Playground’s
second place in Social Inclusion Award and even happier with their committee’s decision to
donate their prize money to Cobh Tidy Towns ongoing work in Cobh. A great night for Cobh.
After a busy Saturday morning planting bulbs, weeding & picking litter with our 20 volunteers
including 6 Transition year students we headed to the Bible Gardens to launch our 2019 Calen-
dar. We are in our 9th year producing this highly anticipated calendar which makes its way all
around the world to hang on the walls of all who love Cobh.
The photographers who could join us today were presented with a framed copy of their pho-
tograph & Calendar. We appreciate hugely the support of all photographers who generously
submit their images to us and to all of the public who purchase the Calendar, the proceeds of
which go towards our efforts to make Cobh an even better place for us to live in, work in and
visit.
We celebrated the launch with refreshments in the lovely Tea shop in the Bible Gardens with
Mother Matthias & her Sisters. Calendars will be available for €10 in Cobh Heritage Centre,
WestBeach Post Office, Cobh Tourist Office, Supervalu & via our email cobhtidytowns@gmail.
com Our volunteers will also be selling them on dates outside Super Valu and Murphy’s Centra.
Thank you for your support.
