Mass for Irish UN Peacekeepers

    At 10am Mass in Cobh Cathedral on Sunday 16th December 2016, Irish UN peacekeepers who
    lost their lived on UN missions will be remembered.
    Respective flags; Irish UN, Cobh ONE branch, MPAI etc will pay respect. These flags will be
    raised and dipped to the sound of a ‘TRUMPETER’ at alter during Mass ceremony.
    All 26 Irish UN peacekeepers who lost their lives in the ‘CONGO’ between 1960 - 1964 will be
    mentioned by name during ceremony.

    Those who served as Irish UN peacekeepers on UN missions World Wide will  be remembered.

                                CHRISTMAS BELLS
    The traditional hour-long recital of Seasonal music on the Cobh Carillon will be presented by
    the Cathedral Carillonneur, Adrian Gebruers, on Christmas Eve commencing at 4.30. As has
    been the case for the past few years, Adrian will be joined by his granddaughters Amy and Ella
    Gebruers in a programme of solos and duets.
                              RINGING THE CHANGES
    Continuing a tradition initiated by his father in 1924, Cathedral Carillonneur Adrian Gebruers
    will present a special recital on the 49-bell Cobh Carillon on New Year’s Eve commencing at
    11.50 and concluding with the playing of Auld Lange Syne on the stroke of midnight.

      COBH MUSEUM IS LOOKING FOR 1950s and 1960s PHOTOGRAPHS
    Did you grow up in Cobh in the 1950s or 1960s? Cobh Museum is looking for photographs
    taken on the streets of Cobh.  We have been getting some lovely photographs which were
    taken by Mr. Hannifin from Sandymount who often photographed people in Top of the Hill and
    also at Lane’s Corner.
    We are inviting members of the public to submit a copy of their photographs by e.mail (cobh-
    museum1@gmail.com) or to call to have the original photo scanned by Cobh Museum staff.
    Please supply names and date if available. Make sure that your family are part of this record
    for the future.
    Cobh Museum’s office (side gate entrance) is open to accept photographs Monday to Thursday
    from 10.30 to 4.30 p.m. during the winter. Happy searching!

                  East Cork Cinema Club December Screening
    East Cork Cinema Club will be screening the classic film ‘Sunset Boulevard’ directed by Billy
    Wider and starring William Holden and Gloria Swanson, on Mon 10th Deccember at the Great
    Island Community Centre (Top Room). Doors 7.30pm, Screening 8pm.  General Admission €8,
    (Members, OAPs & Unwaged €6. Complimentary food and wine included.
