Fabulous Fun at Fota House this St. Patrick’s Weekend!
Fota House is delighted to announce a full schedule for St. Patrick’s Weekend.
The weekend kicks off at 7:30PM on Thursday 14th
March with a traditional Irish gig by Torcán, a Trad Fu-
sion band formed by All-Ireland multi-medallist, Jason
Turk. Joined by his brother Robin, Seán Murphy and
Brian Leach, these talented musicians create a rich
and complex sound from the piano accordion, whistle,
saxophone, fiddle, bazouki, electric bass and guitar.
Special guest Karl Nesbitt on bodhrán joins them for
their Fota House debut.
Tickets cost €20 including free parking and compli-
mentary glass of wine.
Our bilingual self-guided family garden trail Patrick’s Trail / Slí Phádraig runs from Saturday
16th to Monday 18th March. Follow the map, solve the clues and collect your treat back at
the House. Spend a day outdoors with your family, taking in the spring sunshine – wellies and
raincoats are a happy choice!
Our trail is open throughout the bank holiday weekend 10:30 – 15:30 daily. No pre-booking is
needed, just visit us at the House Welcome Desk and we will get you on your way. Child tickets
are €5 (including certificate and treat!) and adults go FREE!
Bakestone at Fota House Café will be open all weekend, serving a new and exciting menu of
delicious treats. All day parking is available at Fota for €3. Thank you for your support, your
contribution helps care for Fota House for future generations to enjoy.
Our friends in the OPW care for the Arboretum and formal Gardens here at Fota and we thank
them for their support in this event.

Cobh Tidy Towns updates
It’s been a busy few months in 2019 for us in Cobh Tidy Towns. We have been litter picking
each week. In 2018 our volunteers gathered 752 bags of dropped litter. To date (end February)
we have picked 111 bags. Please do not throw rubbish from your car and help us by picking up
and binning one piece when you are out walking. The new litter warden has successfully issued
fines relating to illegal dumping of bags and we welcome this.
Your community group or residents association can register for the 2019 National Spring
Clean in April at www.nationalspringclean.org for a free clean up kit.
Amongst our other projects Hydrangeas on the WatersEdge have been pruned; street signs
have been washed; Titanic Memorial Garden Railings have been painted and area tidied; polli-
nator friendly plants put in at the IFI bank; Promenade tiled steps polished up and pole/bollard
painting has begun. All the bulbs we planted in Autumn are bringing beautiful spring colour to
barrels and boats all around town.
With the upcoming local and european elections we again request a poster free zone from the
boundary of the Tay Road in to Cobh as has been acknowledged in the last Presidential and
National election as well as Referenda over the last few years. Help us keep Cobh clean and
reduce single use plastic corriboard, cable ties and visual clutter. Join us Saturdays at 10am
Whitepoint Playground .
