A lovely message we received to the Cobh Tidy Towns email
                                   from V Griffin

“Having spent my 3rd break in the last 24 months in the WatersEdge in Cobh, I felt compelled
to get in touch and congratulate you all on the marvellous work for, and obvious committment
    to, your town.

Though I had not visited Cobh for some 30 odd years, I decided to take a little grandson down
last summer for a few days and, enjoyed it so much, back I went a few months later with,
another “glut” of grandsons...and all the various ages of the children were catered for, won-
derfully. From road train tour (sorry to see it was cancelled his year), to Titanic Experience to
Heritage Centre to Spike Island...WOW, so much to see and do in such a compact and beautiful
    location
At the beginning of this year, I recommended a few days in Cobh to a grieving friend, she
found such solace and kindness, she is heading back for a second stay, next month, and more
    with her!!

I organize an annual “few days away” each year for a few friends and decided our September
break this year would be “Cobh on the train”...my friends having either never been, or not
been for decades...I spent the journey extolling the virtues of your pretty town and its people
and, my friends were duly impressed...but...the real reason I’m writing, and perhaps you
might copy this mail to your relevant C.C. Dept also please, as I cannot find an email address
for them, we were “in residence” the day the Disney Magic came to town, photo attached
    taken from deck at hotel.
We partook of the days excitement with thousands of others and, sitting in the sunshine
amidst all the tents and booths and children and buggies and icecream and dogs and clowns
and scooters and picnics.... we mulled over the “wear and tear” on this wonderful amenity, its
flowers, planted containers and lawns and decided it was going to take days, after this event,
to get place back to the pristine order we found it in, the day before, but, a great day was be-
ing enjoyed by all, visitors and locals alike, due to an obvious huge organizational input from
    local organizations.
Next morning I had a call early “get up, you have to come and see” and I did, and I “saw”....
a town and a park, in the early light as though transformed by Disney Magic, back into its
pristine state...as though “yesterday” had never happened...not even a sweet paper to be
seen and we all marvelled, at the efficiency and commitment of your organization and the lo-
cal Council, and all others involved and the obvious pride of local “Cobhians” in their town. We
decided this pride-of-place is what made ye all, such nice people and the reason why, we will
all be back again, sooner rather than later.

CONGRATULATIONS...your attitude is inspiring and almost tangible and indeed, uplifting .......
    so...Thanks again!!”
