Cobh Tidy Towns Bring home 4th Gold
Representatives from Cobh Tidy Towns travelled to the Helix in DCU to the Super Valu National
Tidy Towns Awards.
We were absolutely delighted to be awarded our 4th Gold Medal increasing our points by 7 and
achieving a Highly Commended in Cork South. The adjudicators paid 2 unannounced visits on
9th July and 8th August. “Arriving in Cobh on a summers day one experiences the feeling of
having arrived somewhere special.
The range of bodies, groups and agencies etc with which the Tidy Towns committee engages
is impressive and the relationship with the schools ensures a future generation of Tidy Towns
activists. Your 2018 calendar is an impressive project and a marvelous way of showing all that
Cobh has to offer. It has probably been twenty years since your adjudicator last visited Cobh
and was enamoured with developments within that time frame. There is obviously a strong
community spirit behind Cobh’s transformation”. Thank you to residents, businesses, commu-
nity groups, Cork County Council outdoor staff and officers for all your work in helping us bring
the Gold to Cobh.
