*** Read the following passage , then answer the questions below - :
A zoo is a place where we can see animals from many different countries .
There is usually at least one zoo in every country . In England there are five
zoos . The biggest is in London .
Some people don't like zoos . They think that it is cruel to keep wild animals in
cages . Other people think that if the cage is large , the animals are not happy .
The animals have good food everyday and if they are ill they are given
medicine . They don ' t have to worry a bout enemies .
In the jungle small animals often don't live for many years because they are
killed and eaten by larger animals . In a zoo these small animals are safe .
It is probably , therefore only the very large animals – lions , tigers and
bears - that are unhappy . They miss the wide open spaces where they roam .
Most children enjoy a visit to a zoo . They usually prefer to look at large
animals although in fact , these aren't always the most interesting .
Sometimes visitors to a zoo are very unkind to the animals . They throw things
at them and tease them .
