Merryvale
ST. HELENA (CONT) Merryvale was the first winery
built after the repeal of
Prohibition in 1936. In 1983, the
Schlatter family purchased the
winery. Rene Schlatter has
invested heavily in vineyard land
and 80% of the fruit is estate
grown. The 68 acre Schlatter
Family Estate is at the base of
Howell Mt at 800ft. of elevation.
In 1985 the family purchased 50
acres of the famed Stanley Ranch
in Carneros. The Sauvignon
Blanc comes from their Juliana
Vineyard at 900ft. in the Pope
Valley. With annual production of
just 12-15,000 cases this small
family owned property is often
times overlooked.

Spottswoode
Originally planted in the 1880s
the Esmerelda Vineyard was
renamed the Lyndenhurst
Vineyard in 1908. In 1910 the
Spotts purchased the property.
Jack & Mary Novak purchased
the property in 1972 but tragedy

from Grace Family Vineyards.
From 1993-99 Heidi Barrett was
