Taken by our Deputy Principal during
lockdown, our front cover shows sunrise
from the northern (Ormond) side of the
building. For much of 2020 the College
encompassed, in essence, most of the
physical world for those who lived on site.
As we closed our doors to visitors and
Melbourne went into extended lockdown
the building, grounds, and Parkville
parklands became the centre of our
world, and in this we were grateful for
the beauty we found in our surroundings.
Our back cover features the digital
media work ‘No Instant Solution’ by
Design student Carmen Umbers. This
work was commissioned by the Principal
as the College went into lockdown
due to COVID-19 restrictions. Drawing
inspiration from the hand sanitiser
distributed throughout the building in
response to the virus, it takes inspiration
from the work of Roy Lichtenstein,
exploring the challenges of the pandemic
for our College community.
