The SCR had a much needed victory over the JCR in the 2012 Ethel Bage Memorial
Debate, argued to much mirth on the topic of ‘Facebook – good or evil?’ The SCR
team drew from across the ranks of the Senior Common Room, with (from right)
graduate student Victoria Churchill joining with Acting Dean of Students Claire
Baxter and Artist-in-Residence Alice Pung to scrape a narrow win over the JCR
team of Jessie Sun, Bridget Sweeney and Jacky Oulton, as adjudged by alumnus
and debater Hugh Gundlach (centre). In the end, both teams agreed to ‘like’ each
other as the JCR eyes off a rematch in 2013
