Congratulatory Remarks

Hello. I’m Kim Kilsung, the head of the Jung-gu Office.

My heartiest congratulations to the Organizing Committee for Myeong-dong International Art Festival on holding
the 8th Myeong-dong International Art Festival(MIAF 2023).

Jung-gu district is the center of Seoul with historical legacy and artistic value. Most of all, Myeong-dong is the
global tourism spot mixing well with culture, art, and tourism, which represent Jung-gu.

It means a lot that Myeong-dong International Art Festival is held in Myeong-dong because Myeong-dong is the
cent of culture and art representing Korea and the global tourist city.

First of all, MIAF 2023 this year has a significant meaning. That’s because it starts with the motto “K-ART, from
Myeong-dong to New York and to the World”, has about 40 galleries and 400 artists both at home and abroad,
including Korean artists in different countries in the world and the 2,000 artworks are put on displayed in 52
room booths and finally is comprised of special exhibition, project exhibition and contest exhibition.

I’d like to applaud the efforts of Director Kwon, Operation Director Mr. Ha, Art Director Bae and all concerned.
And Congratulations the galleries and artists both at home and abroad on joining in this very significant event,
especially the Korean rising artists, the future of K-Art.

I hope that Many people can have the opportunity to meet culture and art in Myeong-dong through Myeong-dong
International Art Festival. And l really hope that Myeong-dong International Art Festival will achieve growth and
development every year, turn Myeong-dong into the global hub of culture and art. Jung-gu will be always with
Myeong-dong International Art Festival
