Greeting, Sook-Ja Kwon
Queen of the Seasons, May, at the Kwon Sook-ja Angeli Art Museum has organized an exhibition in collaboration with the
International Contemporary Art Museum to revitalize regional exhibitions. This exhibition is planned to expand opportunities for
the public to enjoy high-quality art content that the museum possesses.
It is a special exhibition supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Arts Management Support Center, and the
Regional Exhibition Activation Project. It also marks the meaningful 10th anniversary of the opening of the Kwon Sook-ja Angeli
Art Museum.
Baekbeom Kim Gu once said, during chaotic times, in his journal: "I desire not for our country to be the strongest in the world,
but to become the most beautiful. The only infinite thing I wish for is the power of culture. That power makes oneself happy and
gives happiness to others."
The efforts and enthusiasm of these two institutions, which value everyday life and the significance of culture, hope to shine a
"Star of Culture" in the hearts of the public. This exhibition, aimed at regional revitalization, will serve as a precious opportunity
to reawaken the understanding of the value and true meaning of cultural living for many.
For 26 years, the International Contemporary Art Museum has been a treasure trove of works by global artists, developing
steadily. Gallery director Park Chan-kab, a veteran sculptor with active ongoing activities, envisions spreading culture through his
wishes, and together with the Kwon Sook-ja Angeli Art Museum, they have built a broader and taller "Cultural Fortress." It is our
belief that showcasing precious gems for the public is the mission of both museums.
We hope that regional culture will flourish, making Korea a more "beautiful country" that foreigners admire and long for. With
the aromatic spirit of art from 33 countries, and a garden blooming with the "Flowers of Culture," we sincerely thank Director
Park Chan-kab of the International Contemporary Art Museum and all the staff for their efforts in creating this rich cultural
environment.
We also deeply appreciate everyone involved, including the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Korea Arts Management
Service (KAMS), and the Regional Exhibition Activation Project, for their dedicated efforts toward regional cultural activation,
establishing a cultural powerhouse, and further development of Korea’s future.
