Congratulatory Address
Malatya is a city that is frequently mentioned not only in our country but also in the international arena with its natural
beauties, ancient cultural heritage, apricots and rich cuisine. Malatya, whose history dates back to the Hittites, has
hosted many civilizations. Arslantepe Mound, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, is one of the most
important parts of this historical richness. In addition, structures such as the Ulu Mosque in Battalgazi and Silahtar
Mustafa Pasha Caravanserai are important structures that reveal the historical texture of our city. Our city, which has
natural wonders such as Mount Nemrut, cool plateaus and Levent Valley, is also at an important point in terms of
mountain tourism.
The relations between Turkey and the Republic of Korea are historically based on the Korean War and are built on
the foundations of brotherhood and friendship. This strong historical bond has transformed into economic, cultural

and commercial cooperation over time. Today, Turkey and Korea continue their relations at the level of strategic
partnership; It carries out important projects in technology, industry, education and culture. In addition, after the major
earthquake that affected Malatya and its surroundings in 2023, the Republic of Korea and its people immediately
arrived in our city for both humanitarian aid and search and rescue efforts, and made efforts to rescue those trapped
under the rubble. Korean civil society organizations and volunteers also organized aid to support our fellow citizens,
and did not neglect their moral support during this process. The rapid mobilization of your search and rescue teams,
the humanitarian aid you provided and your support to heal the wounds of the people in the region are of unforgettable
value to us. This aid has been a concrete indicator of the historical friendship and solidarity between Turkey and
Korea, and has further strengthened the relations between the two countries. The devotion and aid shown by the
Korean people during this process has been a great source of hope for us in coping with the difficulties created by the
disaster. We have full faith that our strong friendship with the Republic of Korea will continue in the future with solidarity
and cooperation. In this context, with the Malatya Korean Culture Days event that we will celebrate, we will ensure that
different cultures understand each other and strengthen deep-rooted friendships and cultural ties. I believe that this
valuable intercultural exchange contributes to peace, friendship and solidarity, and I once again express my endless
gratitude and respect on behalf of our nation and fellow citizens.
