Artist Note ㅣ

The painting approaches to many people with beautifulness, and brings warm emotion and consolation to
communicate. It also provides time for interpretation and reflection on people and the world. Furthermore,
it contains the truth of the times and eyes & languages to the world. There is a painting at the end of human
languages.

Started painting with Chinese ink in 1983, now hears the secret whispers of the nature in oil and an acrylic.
Like the comfortable sun, I am drawing a picture that makes my heart warm, and leads me happy and new.
Resulting from clear water and air, various colorful flowers and grasses, dense mountains with trees, open
fields and a high sky, our arrogances go down. We realize that the nature is always shaping our lives with
beautiful and strong powers.

To get closer to the nature, I look around the trail, run through the fields, walk the river side and climb-up
mountains from time to time. Filling the foothills covered with small grasses & soil, and painting the ridges
surrounded by trees, I have to hang-down my head in front of the heart-searching mountains snow-capped.
Drawing the untamed and raw nature, I really feel the profundity of life.

I prefer to see white birches showing-off silvery trunks, pine trees standing firmly in winter, bamboos and
firs straighting than anyone else. There are sensual charm, but thorny roses, lotus flowers blooming in pond
gutters and wildflowers, such as silver grasses, reeds etc. standing in high winds. In addition, fallen leaves
are fascinate with brown color which was green in spring. The comfortable scenery depicted without adding
or adding as much as I like, drives me to feel the harmony of nature.

Drawing the trees decorating beautiful fields and mountains, I hold a brush today to represent a tree
without seeing the hidden face of the mountain. I wish to draw the light that is there. Flowers also change
their color according to the sunlight on the pond. I will try to draw a raw nature to be changed by the light
depending on season, time slot, and climate.

Ever since I want to know nature's characteristics of the inner world. Since 2016 my work has been moving
to the copper canvas. The excitement of exploring nature even in dusty iron-filings is unparalleled. I would
like to go to the root of the deeper nature with pursuing signification of the human ecosystem.
