A LIFE WELL LIVED
The reason why social wellness is so important is that people who have healthy relationships,
and a strong social network tend to live longer and respond better to stress. This reduction in
stress and anxiety results in a healthier endocrine system, healthier cardiovascular functioning
and an enhanced immune system.
Social wellness involves building healthy, nurturing and supportive relationships as well as
fostering a genuine connection with those around you. Our relationships can be supportive
during difficult times or continue to build and grow through networking interactions and other
events.
Here are some ways to increase your social wellness:
• Get Some Sun
• Go on Vacation
• Bring the outdoors in
• Get a good night’s sleep
• Volunteering in the community
• Join a club or organization
• Try to keep in touch with supportive friends, family and mentors
• Talk to at least one stranger a day
• Make a coffee or dinner date with a friend you have not talked to in a while
• Take your dog to the dog park and interact with people around you
