Fog season is here
Sanger Herald
This week's featured pet is "Adak," a silly, playful, feisty big puppy who was picked up while wandering in the Greenwood/Holt area.
He's probably a husky mix and only about 6 months old.
A few of the other dogs waiting at the shelter for a forever home:
• Bear is about 8 years old, a shepherd mix. He's already up to date on shots, neutered and potty trained. He prefers people to dogs.
• Queenie is a 3 year old pitbull who loves water. She's up to date with shots and spayed. She likes other dogs wit a proper introduction and she'sokaywith kids.
• Cowboy is about 3 years old, a boxer/pitbull/pug mix who loves laps and hugs," said shelter volunteer coordi-
nator Kim Reed.
Kim wanted to pass on
herthankstothekidsfrom Fairmont, below with Bear, for their great donations.
"The dogs and I really ap-
preciated it," said Kim. Some of the dogs and vol- unteers will be riding on the
Animal Shelter float in this Saturday's parade. Be sure to wave and say hello.
Call animal control officer Mario Irazoqui at (559) 618- 9071 or message the Sanger Animal Shelter Facebook page and leave your email address to find out more about the adoption process which will involve home checks.
Let Mario know if you're interested in providing a temporary foster home for any of the shelter dogs or if you are able to donate
a warm blanket or doggy sweater - cold weather is on the way.

Herald staff report
It's time for parents and students to be reminded of the school district's official foggy day schedules and poli- cies.
Foggy Day Plans: If Plan A is announced,
there will be a two hour bus delay; If Plan B is announced, there will be a three hour bus delay; If Plan C is announced, all home to school transporta- tion is cancelled for the day.
Under Plans A, B and C buses will follow the regular schedule in the afternoon to take students home unless weather conditions reduce visibility to 200 feet or less throughout the majority of the school boundaries.
District schools will operate on the same daily schedule even though foggy day school bus schedules are in effect.
Activity trips, Mon.-Fri., will be reviewed and if needed, will be delayed until conditions improve. Unless an additional announcement is made, afternoon bus runs and athletic trips will operate on a regular schedule.
Saturday activity trips will be at the discretion of the school bus driver to delay or to return to the school site for visibility reduced to 200 feet and less.
Students who walk or have their own transporta- tion to school may arrive at their normal time; however, parents and students are advised to exercise discre- tion relative to conditions in and around their respective school attendance areas.
Parents may opt to send their students after the fog has lifted. Students will not be penalized if tardy due to fog.
Please realize that "Foggy Days" are called on a district wide basis and, due to the size of the district (180 square miles), not all areas in the district have the same fog density. Therefore, while it may or may not be foggy in your area, the decision to delay school is made in the best interest of the students district wide.
In addition to Schoolway push notifications, Foggy Day Schedule updates are available by local TV sta- tions. The district encourag- es parents to check updates by calling the Sanger Unified School District Fog Line at (559) 524-6658.
The complete district policies and procedures are available online at: http://www.sanger.k12.ca.us/ Business-Services/Transpor- tation/foggy-day-schedule

Weather for Apache Country
It looks like we'll have rain showers off and on for the rest of the month. There will probably be some light rain early Saturday morning. But chamber of commerce boss Tammy Wolfe says she has forbidden it to rain during the parade which steps off at 11 a.m.
Nighttime temperatures will be falling very close to the freezing mark next week. Make sure your pets have warm and dry places to sleep.
