Team finishes 2-2 at Central California State tournament

The Reedley Babe Ruth 14-year-old All-Star team completed a 2-2 run in the Central California Babe Ruth State Tournament.
The 14's season ended on July 9 with a 9-6 loss to Santa Maria.
Reedley opened the tour- nament, which was held July 7-10 at Madera High School, with a 6-5 win over Santa Ma- ria on July 7.
The 14's trailed 5-2 entering the top of the sev- enth inning, but scored three runs to tie the game.
After Reedley's Michael Rios reached base on an error and Will Gagnon walked, the 14's had two runners on with two outs.
Dustin Wang came to the
plate and hit a fly ball to right field, which was dropped by the Santa Maria right fielder and led to Rios scoring. This cut the Santa Maria lead to 5-3.
Later in the inning, Reed- ley's catcher Alfred Ojeco singled to center field. This allowed Gagnon and Andrew Brown, who had singled ear- lier in the inning, to score and tie the game at 5-5.
Reedley's Sergio Marquez Jr. scored on an error in the top of the 10th inning to give the 14's their first lead of the game 6-5.
On July 7, Ojeco had two RBIs, while Sammy Estala had one. Rios started the game on the mound for the 14's. Gagnon and Jose Vargas each pitched in relief and had three strikeouts.

Tessler to be inducted in RC Athletic Hall of fame
Immanuel High relases fall schedules

Brian Tessler, shown in this picture from 2005, will be one of six inductees during the 2018 Tiger Athletics Hall of Fame Banquet. Tessler coached at Reedley College from 1998 to 2007, where he accumulated a 223-100 record as head coach of the Tigers women's basketball team.
Former Tigers athletes Amanda Fossen Burton, Jack Edwards, Marie Byrd Harris and Heather Goodman Morris also will be honored during the ceremony on Saturday, Aug. 4, at Reedley College.

With the month of August quickly approaching, Imman- uel High School released its 2018 fall athletic schedules.
Here is a look at some key games in the schedules for the Eagles.
Football
The Immanuel High Ea- gles football team will open its 2018 season on Aug. 17 against Roosevelt High in Fresno.
They then will hold their home opener on Aug. 24 against Farmersville High at the Immanuel Sports Com- plex.
The Eagles have back- to-back home road games against Chowchilla High on Aug. 31 and Quincy Junior/ Senior High School on Sept. 7.
Immanuel then will play Central Valley Christian High on Sept. 14, before traveling for a game on Sept. 21 against Mendota High.
The Eagles final home game is on Oct. 5 against Lib-
erty High School.
Immanuel will play Sierra
High on Oct. 12, before end- ing the regular season on Oct. 26 against Sherman Indian High School.

Girls Volleyball
The Immanuel High Eagles girls volleyball team begin their season on Aug. 14 traveling to Minarets High School.
